We’ve already seen Sofia Coppola following in the directorial footsteps of father Francis with Lost In Translation; now there’s Jordan Scott, Ridley’s daughter, making her debut with a film set in an Irish boarding school. There are echoes of other films, like Dead Poets Society, Lord Of The Flies, If… and Picnic At Hanging Rock, but Scott establishes her own identity with a complex and intriguing study of an enclosed society whose dynamics are disrupted by the arrival of a beautiful teacher (Eva Green) and a pupil with an exotic background.
