Daria Martin, a Beck's Futures shortlisted artist, presents her newest work Harpstrings and Lava (2007). In this work Daria further explores her interest in the relationship between performer and object, the magical and symbolic. Her fairytale-like characters, ambiguous film narrative, and sumptuously filmed production together create an opulent visual aesthetic which transports the viewer to an enchanted dream-like world. Daria once compared her 16mm films to "magic acts that show how the trick is done". Harpstrings and Lava is simultaneously being presented at Maureen Paley Gallery in London.
