Arriving in Darlington in 1965, one of the first things Dr Yash Pal Suri does is buy a pair each of tape recorder, super-8 cine camera and projector. He ships one set back to his family in India - what follows is 40 years of exchanged home movies and recordings. Dr Suri’s daughter Sandhya has edited this vast archive down to the 70 minutes of this wonderful film, which, as well as being a fascinating testament to ‘interesting times’, raises compelling questions about notions of identity, family loyalties, nationalism and home. ‘Beautifully made and sentimental but not at all maudlin, a documentary by nature realistically, but also poetically, presented” - Dilip Barman, Full Frame Documentary Film Festival.
