Bath Film Festival 2008
Of Time and the City
Terence Davies
UK | 2008 | 72m | 12ALittle Theatre Cinema
Thursday 30 October, 6.20pm
£6.90 / £5.70
A love letter to his home city of Liverpool constructed from footage mainly taken from the ‘40s and ‘50s, Davies’ new film evokes the spirit of that age after the war when Britain was an industrial nation, television barely existed, and communal activity was at the centre of most people’s lives. The film is nostalgic but not in a way that suggests that things were better then - simply different, and rather wonderful looking back from our perspective. It’s also the work of a poet, allowing us to marvel at how much things have changed in the course of half a lifetime. The screening will be followed by a nationwide satellite-transmitted Q+A with the director. This screening is jointly promoted by City Screen and Bath Film Festival, and was made possible through the collaboration of the British Film Institute and the UK Film Council. PR
If you would like to put a question to Terence Davies please email it to info@bathfilmfestival.org.uk and it will be considered for inclusion in the Q+A.
