In the world of professional road racing Bjarne Riis is synonymous with prodigious cycling talent, spectacular crashes, and, more notoriously, a doping scandal that haunts him to this day. Having won the Tour de France in 1996, Riis became owner-manager of the Danish CSC team. This penetrating documentary covers the 2004 Tour and Riis’s hunger to replace perennial winner Lance Armstrong and his formidable US Postal team mates at the top. The film conveys the frenetic activity and excitement surrounding this most challenging of races as well as offering a profound insight into the mental and physical demands it exacts. CB
