Adapted from Fay Weldon’s novel, legendary British director Nic Roeg’s latest film is a tense supernatural thriller seen through the eyes of four generations of women. Roeg has been consistently interested in plunging his intelligent characters into unfamiliar and trying situations – see Don’t Look Now, The Man Who Fell to Earth and Walkabout. In Puffball Liffey, a young architect, moves into an isolated Irish valley to build a house, and unwittingly finds herself pregnant. Molly, the mother of a neighbour who is desperate for a son, becomes convinced that Liffey has somehow appropriated the baby from her daughter. She starts to work witchcraft to put the baby’s life in danger. CB
We are delighted to welcome Nicolas Roeg, writer / producer Dan Weldon and members of the cast to the Little Theatre to introduce Puffball and take audience questions following the screening.
