Rumba
Dom and Fionaare school teachers with an enthusiasm for just about everything, butparticularly for the rumba. Returning from a championship they swerve to avoida would-be suicide, with disastrous consequences! This charming, idiosyncraticfilm plays like a very colourful homage to Jacques Tati – characters strugglewith inanimate objects and present an air of smiling bemusement to trouble. Butthe outline could just as easily have been fleshed out as a tragedy of epicproportions – Fiona loses a leg, Dom loses some marbles, and their house burnsdown! Fortunately, it’s not that kind of film. In fact it’s utterly sui generis - funny, oddball, touchingand unique. You’d be daft to miss it. Showing with a debut short film, Par Ces Yeux. CB
