A Jewish boy’s Bar Mitzvah coincides with World Cup Final day in 1966. Director Paul Weiland based this comedy around what happened to him as a young boy in North London, when his parents – oblivious to the possible consequences of their decision – chose the biggest day in UK sporting history as the day to celebrate his coming of age. As England progress towards the final and the whole country goes football crazy, one Jewish family is desperately hoping that they don’t make it all the way – but of course they do. This is another success in Working Title’s extraordinary track record of hit comedies. Paul Weiland will answer questions after the screening. PR
