The City Of The Future
This is an event unlike anything else in this year’s film festival. For Patrick Keiller’s small but dedicated band of admirers, his work – including the legendary London and Robinson In Space – is fascinatingly original. His new creation is not even a film as such, but the last fragments of an imaginary website that allows the user to see footage of any time and any place. These last fragments still available to us are footage of the United Kingdom in the last few years of the 19th century, at the very dawn of the creation of the moving image. This event allows for an interactive dialogue between Patrick and the audience, allowing us to request to see clips from specific parts of the country, which are displayed on a map of the time.
