A breathtaking Japanese anime from Digimon director Hosoda. One day, after finding a magic walnut, schoolgirl Makoto discovers she has special powers which allow her to leap back and forth through time. At first using her power for trivial things (beating her sister to a pudding; resitting an exam she once failed), Makoto starts to meddle in the lives of her friends. Realising that she may be hurting those around her and with only a limited number of leaps left, Makoto desperately tries to put things right before it's too late. This coming-of-age story is a joy as Makoto learns valuable lessons in responsibility and friendship. The film won the first annual Animation of the Year prize at the 30th Japan Academy Awards (the Japanese Oscars). VT
