Revenge is a dish best served cold - and nobody serves it better than French cinema. In this cool psycho-drama, directed by a former member of the French Symphony Orchestra, Melanie, a young deprived but brilliant pianist has her hopes dashed at a scholarship audition. She blames this on what she sees as the calculated indifference of one of the judges. Years later, when Melanie’s path crosses that of her erstwhile tormentor, she manoeuvres herself into a position of intimacy in order to exact her revenge. CB
