You Must Remember This: The Warner Bros. Story
Richard Schickel

With: Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese
In this documentary by Time film critic Richard Schickel, based on his recently-published book commemorating the 85th anniversary of Warner Bros., the period examined encompasses the studio's beginning (1923) up to the early 1950s, covering as rich a collection of great films as you could ask for. These include the obvious - The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca; and the ones you should have seen - The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, I Was A Fugitive From A Chain Gang. With narration by Clint Eastwood, the film gives a truly fascinating insight into the workings and ethos of what was often perceived, in contrast to the frivolity of MGM, as a studio with a social conscience. Having whetted your appetites, you will be eager to catch the three classic Warner Brothers films we will be screening later in the festival. PR
We are thrilled that George Perry, who co-wrote the book and film with Schickel, will be attending the screening to answer questions afterwards.
